Although the musicianship on this CD is exemplary, and many of the cuts are excellent, I agree with a number of previous reviewers re: the elevator music analogy. The SACD is an excellent recording, in and of itself, but come on, guys,."give up the funk, gotta have some funk."
Fourplay is always, not bad. Jazz is never, not good, especially when listening to this group. Jazz musicians take the best of themselves and present it to the world for the world to enjoy, which is why I call Jazz,the music of the gods, and the gods are always good. Once again Fourplay delivers a CD filled with heavenly sounds. Listening to Energy added sparks to my world.
FourPlay is one of my favorite Smooth Jazz Group. I am collecting these cd's and am glad the company that sent this product sent it in perfect condition. Thanks.
If you happen to see this review consider it constructive criticism. The title Energy is actually completely misleading, because that is exactly what this CD is missing, ENERGY. As a long time fan of Fourplay, both the group and individual members its of no joy to report that most of this CD sounds like background or elevator jazz music. We will be awaiting your next CD and hopefully a return to the stellar jazz, funk, grooves & medlodic tones that have made Fourplay a Super band. If you are a fan of Fourplay or simply interested in the group I cannot recommend this CD, but instead would suggest you procure some of their older, landmark CD's, which can be found on Amazon. Bob, Nathan, Lee & Harvey we love your music. For now I will have to replay your classic music until the next CD.
The sounds are great. They are fantastic ans soothing, at the same time, to listen to. Put you head back, close your eyes and enjoy.
